With this subscription to the ACP Leaflet Missal prayerbook, you get three full years, six issues per year, a total of eighteen issues. The first is that for Christmas/January, followed by issues for Lent, Eastertime, Summer, Ordinary Time, and Advent.
One distinctive feature of the Leaflet Missal prayerbook is its unique arrangement in accord with the liturgical year. The Advent issue, for example, includes the whole month of November, as well as most of December. The themes of Advent [end of the world, Second Coming, resurrection of the dead, All Saints, Christ the King] are all found in both November and December. So, the Advent issue, with a purple cover, carries out these themes in art work, in songs, and in prayers. The entire issue helps the congregation think in terms of Advent during these two months.
Similarly, the Lent issue begins with Ash Wednesday and continues up to Wednesday before Easter. Passion Sunday, which is celebrated during Lent, is included in the Lent issue of the Leaflet Missal prayerbook, as are the following three days, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Special material is provided for the Scrutinies of the RCIA, as well as appropriate music. The entire issue is united, with reference to the themes of Lent.
The Easter issue includes the integral Easter Triduum, the three days from Holy Thursday Evening to Easter Sunday morning. As you know, these three days form a single liturgical unit; and so they belong in the same book, with its emphasis on the Resurrection of Christ. In both appearance and in content, the whole Easter issue is united around the themes of that season, especially the paschal mystery and renewal of baptism.
Year after year, all six issues of the Leaflet Missal prayerbook match the cycle of the Church's life of prayer. The benefit to you is that with the Leaflet Missal prayerbookyou have an easy appreciation of the natural rhythm of the liturgical year. Naturally, the power of the Word of God is more evident, in conjunction with the prayer of the Church.
Publisher Comments
Many individuals cherish the ACP Leaflet Missal prayerbook for its complete texts for daily prayer, especially the complete Responsorial Psalm for each day. Even if people cannot go outside to church, these complete weekday texts are used by thousands of individuals who pray daily at home.
To be sure, the Leaflet Missal prayerbook puts emphasis on Sunday Mass; the Scripture readings are in extra-large type, for easy reading. As far as we know, no comparable prayerbook has type so large and a format so clear. The Scripture readings for Sunday Mass are all presented in the same place, at the front of the Leaflet Missal prayerbook. There's no page turn after the opening prayer because, Sunday by Sunday, the First Reading immediately follows.
For the Mass itself, the Eucharistic Prayers are each presented as a single unit, so that the meaning of each prayer is clear and so that it's easy to find your place.
Also, unlike other missals, with hundreds of pages, the Leaflet Missal prayerbook, issue by issue, has a moderate number of pages. As you know, a smaller book is much easier to use and much more effective as a help to prayer, personal or communal.
There is no missal or missalette that is so easy to use, so clear in format, and so inspiring in its presentation. As Bishop Gregory has pointed out, even in church, many people need to use a publication such as the Leaflet Missal.
